Hey folks, myself and a couple of other veteran photographers are opening a new gallery/studio in the Orem area. We are focusing on utah wedding photography and utah portrait photography. The website is http://www.finelightphotographers.com

I shot this image of one of the diversion dams up Provo Canyon in Provo, Utah. I’ve always liked this location and the way the water comes over the spillway, but rarely get to see come through this way. I captured the image about 1/2 an hour after sunset and had an exposure of nearly 30 seconds.

I had a great photo session with Jason and Jenette creating images for their wedding invitations. We hit a bunch of great locations in the Orem and Provo Utah area. We did some fun bridge shots, did another set at the Orem Harley Davidson dealership, and finished at an awesome old truck near Utah Lake.

Utah Living Aquarium

March 20, 2011

I took my kids to the Utah Living Aquarium today and we all had a really great time.  There are many great exhibits including the stingrays, penguins, snakes, and all kinds of other aquatic fish.  I recommend anyone who wants to show their kids a good time and learn a little bit while they’re at it to pay this place a visit.  I’ve included a few photos that I took while we were there.  Enjoy…

Salt Lake City Utah Bridal PortraitLast Wednesday we photographed Angie and Jake for her Bridal session.  Its becoming more and more common for the grooms to be a part of the bridal session.  We started at our Orem studio for some very elegant bridal shots.  In addition, we did some high fashion shots, and some “sassy” ones as well!  After, we went up American Fork canyon for some snow shots along the river.  Finally we went to the ampitheater at the American Fork training school.  It was funny to watch all the other “amature” photographers finishing their photo shoots just as the light really got good.  But it worked out because we had the whole place to ourselves!  What a fun shoot!

We got a call the other day from a high school graduate that we had done photos for a few months ago.  His mother and he were entering a pairs fitness competition and needed some new shots of them together.  This was such a fun photo shoot.  Both of them had a lot of energy and were a blast to work with.  I’ve included just a few images from the shoot, but will post more photos later.

About a week ago I photographed Hattie for some new portfolio images she was needing.  She had won a model portfolio photo shoot as part of a promotion we were running with FiveStarr Modeling Agency.  I photographed Hattie at the studio.  Whenever I shoot models, I like for them to come with as many different outfits and looks as possible.  That way I can use different backgrounds and outdoor locations to suit their look.

This was the first time photographing Kim and Bryce, but I think you can see that they both know how to model for the camera!  They are both very photogenic.  The entire engagement photo session was done at our Orem studio.  We started shooting inside, but there are some really great little nooks, walls, doorways and stairs to shoot on outside the studio.

I’ve worked with Kim only one other time, so I was excited to shoot her bridal portraits for her.  She had this great idea of bringing in some wallpaper she had found with a cool pattern on it.  Kim had a great look and her experience as a model really came through in her bridals.  I love shooting bridals in the studio.  There’s just a certain elegance and sophistication about indoor bridals.  I certainly shoot my fair share of bridals outdoor at places like Sundance and Thanksgiving Point, but I jump at the chance to shoot bridals in the studio!

Last week I photographed Sara Nicole as part of a senior graduation / model portfolio shoot.  This was her first official model photo shoot in a studio.  I was very surprised at how well she did!  There were so many great images that came out of this photo shoot.  I’ve included just a few for you to look at and critique.
